About the owners

We’ll be honest — we never wanted to write an “about us” page. We’d much rather be talking about you and your vision for your special event. We hope our facilities and services speak for themselves. But as someone reminded us, it’s nice to know the faces behind the business.

We’re Landon and Sally Satterfield, owners and operators of The Flower Barn and Shawnee Stems our flower farm. What started as purchasing the property in parcels has grown into both our home and business. We now live on-site with our two kids (ages 6 and 1) and our three dogs — two labs and one big couch-loving beagle.

We met at SIU in forestry school, and today we both work in the private timber industry. Landon is a timber buyer, and Sally is a log buyer, which takes us across southern Illinois, western Kentucky, southeast Missouri, and beyond. Our roots in forestry and love of timber inspired the barn’s timeless design and craftsmanship using only red oak and white oak.

Landon was born and raised in Benton, IL. Sally is from West Central Illinois, the Macomb area (Bushnell, IL.) 

Our number one goal? Making your day as easy and enjoyable as possible. From start to finish, we want you, your family, and your vendors to feel at ease. We’ve created a space that’s both beautiful and functional — with all the amenities you need and an aesthetic that shines on its own.
